About Wellington County Historical Research Society
1) 5 regular in person meetings (including agm) with guest speakers 2) a historical walking tour of a local village/town 3) annual publication called 'wellington county history' now volume 37. 4) we financially support student history awards at both the centre wellington high school and the erin district high school 5) 3 newsletters are published and sent out either by e-mail or canada post to keep our readers informed and up to date on what is happening. We are able to refurbish a historic plaque at a public school and upon the unveiling - involved the school kids the original group that had installed the plaque and local dignitaries. It involved the lesser known black history of this area. The steve thorning book was published and made available to the public. This was a long term project that has come to completion. We are looking at our upcoming 100th anniversary of the society and the possibility of a publishing the history of the society over the last 100 years.
