Waypoint centre for mental health care is a fully-accredited 315-bed psychiatric hospital and home to the waypoint research institute. The 155-bed regional hosptial programs provide inpatient and outpatient services for people requiring specialty mental health and addiction treatment and care from simcoe county part of dufferin county the southern portions of muskoka/parry sound and portions ontario health central region. In addition the hospital is the province's only high secure forensic mental health hospital for patients with mental illness who have become involved in the criminal justice system. Waypoint continues to run a formal child youth and family mental health program including expanded services including virtual urgent care and on call services. The hospital is a partner in the central ontario specialized health network and also provides leadership for the north simcoe muskoka specialized geriatric services program north simcoe youth wellness hub the ontario structured psychotherapy program and mental health & addictions support for healthcare workers (frontline wellness) for central region. With the support of td bank waypoint and the waypoint research institute launched a youth mindfulness/resilience program. Waypoint is the first hospital in ontario to offer an at-home program focused on specialized mental health and addiction care for individuals who no longer need the level of care provided in the hospital but still require additional care to safely return home or to a community setting.
