About Walton Pastoral Charge
WORSHIP: In 2024 we hold our 11am services at Cheverie United (1st and 3rd Sunday's) and at Grace United (2nd and 4th Sunday's ). A licensed Lay Worship Leader (LLWL) provides services twice a month; otherwise Council members approximately 40 volunteers and a retired ordained minister filled in. Our choir the organist and guitarist and soloist provide music. CARING: Pastoral care is ministered from birth to passing whether at home in hospital or in nursing homes. Special events marriages Christmas and Easter are celebrated. We reach out to grieving families through cards and financial memorial donations. OUTREACH: We support the United Church of Canada Region 15 through an annual allotment the Mission and Service of the United Church of Canada and the local Food Bank the Hants Shore Health Clinic. We maintain cemeteries in Walton Pembroke and Cheverie. In terms of caring after luncheons we deliver food to shut in members of the community. Our Keeping Warm program continued under which we give away scarves hats mittens coats and other clothing and this year. We delivered household items and clothing to New Boundaries in Windsor Nova Scotia. A Sunshine program allows us to keep in touch through cards and calls with those who need reassurance. in terms of worship we have joint services from time to time with our brothers and sisters from the Kempt Shore United Baptist Church. In terms of reaching out we had various fundraising initiatives including suppers a garden party Christmas angel and tree lighting memorial services and we offer an open door at Christmas Eve. We supported veterans through a Remembrance Day Service in Bramber.
