About Volunteer Mississauga Brampton Caledon
As a local volunteer centre in peel our primary service area is the referral service. Our website received over 65 000 visitors in 2024. Volunteer mbc’s 3 virtual volunteer expos. 'vx' in fall spring and winter resulted in 7400 visits to the virtual booths set up by our member organizations. Our outreach placed at over 30 events including celebrations and festivals colleges many high schools community centres resulted in over 3000 new volunteer profiles being created. Membership[ created over 160 new volunteer positions and we made over 19 000 volunteer referrals to reduce barriers we have community engagement programs aimed at tackling social isolation which is a growing crisis in our suburban community. Our seniors youth and intergenerational programs that brought both generations together were impactful. Through the learning centre we delivered learning for leaders of volunteers non-profit leaders and board directors and for volunteers themselves to better prepare them to volunteer. Volunteer recognition: at the v-oscars our member organizations recognized 50 amazing volunteer nominees at the awards gala. Via program grants and new community partnerships we executed: the peel serves program funded by ontario ministry of seniors and accessibility – the pilot program focused on volunteer advisors accompanying individuals in every stage of their volunteer journey. Organizations that participated in the program received ongoing support on their positions and to understand their screening and onboarding requirements. This was a two-sided approach to support clients effectively with navigating positions and improving volunteer engagement. Savvy conversation circles supported by the federal new horizons grant: 15 virtual conversation circles were held with 65 unique program participants.
