Vhl Canada

VHL Canada is established exclusively for charitable purposes: to promote the health and well-being of VHL (Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome) patients and their family members in Canada by facilitating a system of peer support. Peer support is the emotional informational and practical support from and for people with lived experiences to cultivate mutual empowerment. Peer support initiatives are run by and for the participants. Group support -online- is facilitated by a permanent Peer Support Volunteer (PSV) every week and through phone/video calls as needed. Individual support and outreach is provided by PSV: daily or as needed through text/chat phone and email. 'Having VHL in Canada' psychosocial/coping information etc: regular blogs/group emails and social media updates self-help resources and webcasts. Our PSV is an experienced VHL who was also experienced in professional mental health settings (MSW RSW). Along with other volunteers (administrative fundraising etc.) our volunteers contribute hundreds of hours per year.
