Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports

Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports ('VASS') provides ski and snowboard programs for disabled students of all ages at the Vancouver based ski mountains. Programs include: a variety of Learn-to-Ski programs for all skill levels Learn-to-Snowboard programs for all skill levels Drop-In ski and snowboard programs Adaptive Race programs and Sit-Ski programs. In total we ran 22 specific programs. Many have run in the past with our two unique family/support programs and the peer-to-peer program in their third year and thriving. The fiscal 2024 year was not a typical season due to a significant challenge with the lack of snow. Our 6-week programming was reduced to an average of 4 lessons delivered per student resulting in reduced programming revenue compared to last year. However we have grown with a consistent need for at least 550 volunteer instructors every year. This season we delivered 800 lessons to 320 students. With the challenging snow conditions we did well to continue the programming we already had in place. Our Tetraski program which started last year resulted in us being able to send an athlete to the international Tetraski race in Utah which was a first for us. All programs will continue in 2024/25 with the exception of the Friday night Club Program which had low interest. However if the need arises we will look at how to restructure this program.
