Urbanpromise Ministries

In 2024 UrbanPromise Ministries (operating as 'Promise Vancouver') continued to provide year-round out-of-school programming for vulnerable children and adolescents (grades 1 to 7) in the DTES. For teens (grades 8-12) we ran our Young Leaders Program a program for local youth providing them opportunities to earn an income while receiving life-skills training opportunities to lead and adult mentoring relationships. Promise Vancouver continued to build partnerships/relationships with other organizations that provide social support in the community (e.g. Lord Strathcona Elementary School Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society A Better Life Foundation Potluck Society Greater Vancouver Food Bank Union Gospel Mission). The Promise Vancouver Trekkers is our newest program made possible through ESDC's Canada Service Corps -- Microgrants stream. In 2024 we spent the latter months in conversation with ESDC to negotiate collaborate and determine plans to start the program in 2025.
