Tweed & District Horticultural Society

Held monthly meetings with different speakers on Horticulture/Environmental topics for members and community. Purchase plants and flowers for twelve Town gardens and numerous Town planters. Plant and maintain these twelve gardens. Plant and maintain raised garden for local Nursing Home. Involving the seniors with the planting. Butterfly release program with kits we purchase for two elementary schools and Tweed Library. Instructional guidance by our volunteers. Fund prizes for Tweed Agricultural Society for summer and Fall Fairs. Donate to local Church for the purchase of their vegetable seeds. They then donate their harvest to the local Food Bank. Re-structured an existing Town garden to create a Butterfly garden. Volunteer hours: 1 774 In the planning stages for changing an additional garden to a butterfly garden in the Town.
