Purpose - To advance the public’s appreciation of the arts by producing public art exhibitions presentations and performance art(s) events and by providing a forum forqualifi ed artists to exhibit present or perform their artistic works through participation in such events. Self Produced Performances: For each self produced performance we hire a dynamic team of qualified professional artists (including actors designers directors and technicans) who work together to create and perform/exhibit their artistic work. Ongoing self produced performances include: A. 'Civil Blood: A Treaty Story' a new Canadian play by Josh Languedoc & Neil Bye-Kuefler that explores the complex tensions between First Nations and the European Settlers at the end of the fur trade. Languedoc weaves the texts of 'Romeo and Juliet' Treaty #6 and his own learnings of traditional stories into a reimagined contemporary tale. The play will be staged as an immersive split narrative experience in the historically authentic 1876 Amiskwaciwâskahikan fort (?????????????? ) culminating in a community gathering and artist exchange led by First Nations Elders and knowledge keepers. B. 'Cycle' by Andrew Ritchie a solo-show told from a stationary bike this in-development performance explores Ritchie’s personal experience history and politics of active transportation and cycle culture in Canada. Lucky audience members seated on stationary bikes will be asked to pedal alongside Ritchie as he traverses the dangers and highs of urban transportation and gig work culture. Inspired by true experiences as a bike food courier in Toronto and the financial and physical precariousness of trying to ‘make a living’ in Canada. C. 'Oracle' an interactive character performance designed to captivate festival-goes through an improvised fortune-telling experience. Audience members were invited to ask personal questions around the theme of longing and were given a comedic and lighthearted reading of their future
