The y.w.c.a. Of thompson strives to make a positive difference by promoting a strong pressence of women by improving economic situations for individuals by equipping individuals to make informed choices and by making thompson a safe community for women and children. The organization offers both short and long term accommodations to women children and men as of 2007 whom require safe housing and hostel living. The organization also provides accommodations for individuals traveling from outlying communities for medical requirements. The organization continues to offer educational programming and like skills training for adults re-entering the workforce. The organization also offers programs specifically for women and children through the women's center. The organization has developed a 'transition program' for individuals that are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The initiative of the program is to provide resources and support to participants to develop skills connect with resources and provide support to individuals in securing long term housing employment and/or education in a safe healthy supportive environment. Sheltering the homeless in place project (shipp) - housing services for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness who in addition to having an elevated risk of covid-19 copmplications have no where to safely footsteps forward bursary aims to provide financial support to individuals who identify as a women or girl and have a desire to advance their learning. This bursary will either assist with expenses for shorter-term training or programs that do not require enrollment into a post-secondary institute or will assist with expenses related to attending a post-secondary institute.
