About Thetis Island Nature Conservancy Society
Main focus of the Society is promoting conserving and protecting the quality of human and natural environments of Thetis Island and surrounding marine waters. The Society encourages community's participation in land stewardship and conservation. General areas of programming are nature education stewardship of natural ecosystems and species at risk conservation and community food security. Specific programs include art- and science-based nature education programs for Thetis Island residents and visitors; management of two nature reserves (about 100 acres); engagement with landowners to boost biodiversity and conservation on their land; community science initiatives for species at risk including bats screech owls sharp-tailed snakes purple martins and forage fish; education events related to community food security; and maintenance of 2 pollinator medicinal and native plant gardens. in 2023-2024 44 volunteers assisted with these programs. We have no new programs.
