The West Coast Book Prize Society

The society presents annually literary awards in eight categories which honour excellence in writing. Judges select 5 finalists and the winner for each of the awards. The society also administers the lieutenant governor's award for literary excellence and the borealis prize: the commissioner of yukon award for literary contribution there is an annual gala to celebrate the finalists and announce the winners. The charity runs a podcast that honours and celebrates the bc and yukon writing community. The society has monthly online virtual events offering discussion on books publishing and the creative process where experts authors publishers and others in the literary community meet to discuss various literary topics. The society also organizes free author events at bookstores libraries and at elementary and secondary schools throughout british columbia and yukon.
