About The Wellspring Foundation for Education

The wellspring foundation for education’s programs have equipped 256 school leaders to build safe and welcoming schools where children thrive; empowered 3 710 teachers to bring engaging lessons to life for students every day; supported 11 252 parents and caregivers to encourage learning at home; so that 169 300 children and youth are benefiting from education that enables them to grow into their potential. Out hallmark approach – the school development program – continued to serve students teachers school leaders parents and community representatives in 3 sectors of rubavu district in rwanda. An impact evaluation on the rubavu school development program conducted in 2024 demonstrated wide-ranging impact and positive change in the school communities. Now in a new phase of our school development program the 'turer abana program' is aiming to keep rubavu’s most vulnerable children in school and to support their learning by strengthening families and home environments through training 234 village-level family coaches while training and coaching school leaders at 23 schools to lead and create a nurturing healthy and protective school environment and to coordinate and facilitate in-school teacher training for their teams. The words ‘turere abana’ mean ‘together we nurture and raise children’. This phase of our program for rubavu district was designed with insight from data from the government of rwanda about domestic conflict and its impact on children’s education and levels of drop out as well as insights gained through significant stakeholder and community consultation. During the 23/24 academic year (until july 24) continued our focus on socio-emotional learning for students at 55 schools in seven district during there first year of secondary school through the youth first program. For the acaemic yeaer 24/25 (from sep 24) the program was reduced to 34 schools across 4 districts. We completed a milti-faceted follow up study of our program impact evaluation
