About The Victoria Cool Aid Society
The Society offers life-changing services to people who are impacted by poverty colonization stigma and homelessness. These services include permanent housing emergency shelter health and dental care employment assistance and social and recreational opportunities. Meal services and activities are offered at several housing and shelter locations. The Society operates a health clinic a mobile health van a dental clinic and a pharmacy primarily targeted to the homeless and at-risk populations. Employment and education resources and mentoring and outreach services are offered to our clients as well as counselling for mental health and addictions. The Society operates a community centre with drop-in activities a running program and the use of computers and internet. The Society added a second mobile health van to further support the health outreach team. The was made possible with the support of generous donors and a partnership with TELUS Health for Good. Services includes trauma informed primary medical services wound care Covid-19 assessment and testing routine testing for other diseases contraception harm reductions services STI treatment and mental health supports. The society added 42 units of affordable housing in November 2022 at it’s 210 Gorge Road location in Victoria. In the current year these units were able to reach 83% occupancy.
