The Vancouver Chopin Society

Once again The Vancouver Chopin Society strived to present performers both young and old seasoned masters as well as talented young musicians. In our 2023-2024 season we arranged return visits to Vancouver by distinguished performers such as Lilya Zilberstein legends of the keyboard like Yefim Bronfman as well as very talented young artists such as Melisande McNabney Anna Geniushene as well as Canada’s very own Bruce Liu gold medalist of the 2021 International Chopin Competition in Warsaw. One of the season’s highlights was a performance by Rafal Blechacz first-prize winner of the 15th International Chopin Competition in 2005 and a favourite of Vancouver audiences. There were two notable endeavours during the season a Chopin Marathon in 2024 where around 150 young piano students from the Greater Vancouver area performed various works by Chopin over three days. As well we had our first Summer Chopin Academy where 12 piano students from Canada and the United States gathered in Vancouver to study with two distinguished teachers over an intensive four-day period.
