The work required to organize and put on six classical concerts is carried out by a dedicated group of Volunteers. The Society offers a preferential ticket rate for all students registered in the local school system and local music schools so they would be able to attend the concert series. The society offers three bursaries two in the name of two founding members Marjory Nixon and Paul Moritz and one in the name Rudy Berg which is awarded at the Abbotsford Music Festival. These bursaries are available to students who study music in Abbotsford. The Beth Nickel Memorial String Award Beth Nickel was a talented violist and a committed music teacher who made important contributions both in the community and in the school system. Beth passed away after a short battle with cancer. The Nickel family created an endowment fund in her name at the Abbotsford Community Foundation. The goal is to support students of string instruments with an award. With input from the adjudicator and The Valley Concert Society the Nickel family will make the final selection of a winner. The Valley Concert Society has been tasked with managing the process of selecting a winning candidate. The presentation was made by a member of the Nickel family at the concert on May 10 2024
