About The Toronto United Church Council
To assist the united church of canada in southern ontario including but not limited to: - congregational development and church redevelopment through consultancy leadership training planning research and site acquisition. - providing sites and facilities for camping programs (lake scugog camp camp big canoe camp simpresca and sparrow lake camp) inner city outreach in toronto and congregational life across its service area -camping opportunities for children living in poverty or dysfunctional family situations through the camping opportunity fund (lake scugog camp has 100% subsidized campers all other camps have 30% or more). -assisting congregations and other church agencies to care for the well being of people in their community through the restricted funds under its care e.g. Providing food programs clothing temporary shelter emergency help and counseling servies. -assisting congregations and other church agencies to provide affordable housing for the homeless and hard-to-house in their communities. -encouraging youths to partake in social ministry through a volunteer service reward program. -support congregations and other church agencies towards greening initiatives through an interest-free loan towards energy efficient building upgrades and provides interest loans to congregations for capital improvements. -promote the development of church leaders. -management of church properties to ensure continuing community impact.
