About The Synod of the Diocese of Niagara
Mission statement: 'God calls us to help people become followers of Jesus equipped for ministry in the Church and in the world through nurture worship evangelism and service.' The Church of St John the Evangelist is a Christian community of faith and a parish within the Anglican Diocese of Niagara in the Anglican Church of Canada which is a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. The Church was established in 1890 and is located in west downtown Hamilton. It serves a diverse population who live in the immediate neighbourhood and beyond offering worship services spiritual care and nurture as well as community development programs for youth adults seniors and those at risk for social isolation. St John's is a partner in arts programming providing performance space for amateur and professional musicians and a gathering place for the community. St John's is also active in refugee sponsorship poverty relief and advocacy and a provider of affordable housing.
