About The Ottawa Food Bank/La Banque D'Alimentation D'Ottawa
During this fiscal period the ottawa food bank (ofb) has actively pursued its mission to combat food insecurity through a range of charitable programs. The organization operates as a non-profit providing both fresh and non-perishable food along with essential supplies such as diapers and toiletries to a network of 112 community and emergency food programs throughout the city of ottawa. Established in 1984 the ottawa food bank was initially a temporary measure to address community hunger but it persists today due to the growing need for emergency food access in the city. The ottawa food bank serves tens of thousands of individuals each month with 37 percent being children and youth under the age of 18. Recognizing the evolving needs of the community the ottawa food bank has maintained its home delivery program in response to identified needs during the pandemic. This initiative aims to provide additional support to individuals and families who may face challenges accessing traditional food distribution points. By implementing a home delivery service the ottawa food bank demonstrates its commitment to addressing the diverse needs of the community and ensuring that food assistance reaches those who require it.
