About The Nature Conservancy of Canada/La Societe Canadienne Pour La Conservation De La Nature

As Canada’s largest environmental charity the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has worked with partners to conserve natural landscapes since 1962. Together we deliver solutions to address the dual crises of biodiversity loss and climate change through large-scale and long-term conservation. We create lasting change for the planet and its people by partnering with Indigenous Nations and communities governments and businesses around shared interests. NCC works at the landscape level to create nature-based solutions at scale. We are inclusive champions of nature setting aside differences to focus on solutions. We embrace multiple perspectives fueled by innovative technology data and lived experience. NCC administers the Natural Heritage Conservation Program a unique public-private partnership with the Government of Canada and in collaboration with the land trust community. NCC and land trust partners raise contributions to match the government’s investment and deliver on-the-ground conservation results. NCC also facilitates conservation by bringing together partners to remove private resource rights on land (oil gas timber etc.) that may be barriers to conservation. NCC strives to be an ally with Indigenous Peoples supporting Reconciliation and Indigenous-led conservation through the protection and care of lands and waters. NCC’s Nature + Climate Project Accelerator group embraces innovation in the delivery of nature-based climate solutions. Its mission is to accelerate conservation outcomes by connecting the true value of nature to new sources of financing principally through carbon offset projects. Proceeds from the sale of carbon credits will be directed to support conservation projects elsewhere in Canada. NCC operates national internship and volunteer programs. In fiscal year 2023/24 both programs were active. NCC also works with partners in academia to conduct support and distribute original research on biodiversity conservation. In 2023/24 NC
