The Mississauga Heritage Foundation Incorporated

Heritage mississauga stayed true to its mandate - celebrating mississauga's heritage through research promotion and learning. We continue to be mississauga's heritage source and advocate providing heritage content and programming virtually and in-person to the community. Programs include: outreach publications tours exhibits oral histories and collection of materials for exhibits and virtual displays. Research focuses on social cultural architectural geographical natural family celebrations and milestones. In 2024 our community celebrated mississauga's 50th anniversary. This theme became the focus for our programming. We continued our weekly virtual programs including: live news magazine articles. Ask a historian and saturday matinee's. We hosted two indigenous webinars the annual sunrise ceremony in the spring and participated in the city's indigenous peoples day celebration. We honoured 49 heritage heroes at the credits awards and hosted two community art exhibitions. We presented a 50-week podcast series hosteda special legends row event inducting 6 members into our walk of fame and designed two interpretive panels. We developed an anniversary display focused on mississauga in 1974 launching it at the canada pavilion - carassauga. The display then travelled to 5 festivals in the city showcasing mississauga's heritage. Our 1812 re-enactment company participated in 5 events in ontario and hosted their annual engagement at bradley. Our extensive social media network posts supported our community celebrating festivals programs and events.
