About The Living Through Loss Counselling Society of B.C.
Ongoing programs providing direct support to individuals children families in need of counselling due to a sudden and traumatic loss. Providing workshops debriefs and support groups to those organizations and communities in need public education on the topic of loss and grief as well as professional training in the areas of grief and loss and facilitation courses in how to facilitate supports groups in the areas of loss through death support groups care for the caregiver support groups and a newly added support group entitled how to facilitate a six week support group for those that have suffered a non-death loss. This training is provided in an on-line virtual format. Living through loss counselling society of bc continued with a new program with vancouver coastal health population health division to work with the health authority and their partners to provide professional training to interested social workers nurse practitioners community volunteers working in the health services providing direct care and support to clients in need of loss and grief support. The society's trainers/grief therapists provide courses in grief and loss as well as how to facilitate support groups dealing with the topics of loss through death care for the caregivers and non-death loss support groups. We expanded the target groups beyond hospice organizations neighborhood houses and individuals working in vch unit across the health authority's jurisdiction. This training now is offered across canada. In particulare care giving organizations more specifically alzheimer society's and agencies that work with maid associations across canada. The society will be moving their administrative (board office) at the beginning of the new year (2025). In all likelihood the board will be making the final decision to wind-down living through loss counseling society of bc in 2026. After 56 years of serving the residents of british columbia in supporting their grief and loss needs.
