The Foundation for Genocide Education

The foundation for genocide education is the driving force behind the quebec education ministry's initiative to create a universal teaching guide on genocide. This interactive guide is available to every high school across quebec reaching over 310 000 students. The guide was launched in french in april 2022 accompanied by a promotional video the foundation produced to encourage teachers to adopt this tool in their classrooms quickly along with educational capsule videos that illustrate the concepts of the guide. It was translated into english in april 2023. We are creating connections with school boards and teachers in other canadian provinces to bring the guide to students across the country. The foundation for genocide education also runs a high school presentation program that centers on stories of the survival of victims of genocide as told by their descendants and the survivors themselves. Along with our holocaust presentations we now have presentations given by rwandan survivors and descendants of the american genocide and the genocide of canada's first nations. Each presentation touches on genocide and its precursorss hate and intolerance and exposes recent hate crimes and contemporary genocides. The presentations are written and produced by our foundation administrative coordinator and a professional writer. All presenters (who are volunteers) are trained and rehearsed on how to give their presentations by our presentation outreach coordinator.
