The Edmonton Jazz Society (1973) (reg 105)

The edmonton jazz society 1973 (ejs) delivered 130+ jazz performances during fiscal 2024. I addition to the live audiences the majority of the performances are live steamed for a nominal fee. The littlebirds big band and combo band practice during the year and are preparing a third band of younger musicians the littlebirds continue to deliver concerts throughout the year. The ejs continues to have a robust volunteer contigent of 75+/-. They provide their services supporting the performances administration and general maintenance of the ejs building and equipment. As part of the commitment to build community and local partnership the ejs co-produces performance during the year introducing new patrons to jazz and other music genres. We had six days of a journey through jazz for school division ii students. There were 1 200+ students who participated. The concerts at the yardbird presented a variety of music from early jazz to present day including how musicians change their approach on individual instruments to be true to each style.
