About The Edmonton Folk Music Festival Society
The Edmonton Folk Music Festival is a four day festival of music held each year in early August in Edmonton’s scenic river valley. This annual event has been in operation since 1980 and is committed to being accessible for all members of the community and to excellence in programming. Seniors (80+) and Children are admitted at no charge while Youth Young Adults and Seniors all have discounted pass prices. An additional 2500 tickets are distributed to local Social Service Agencies and community members at no charge. Our event prides itself on being community driven and we are supported by an essential volunteer base of over 2 600 volunteers who contribute more than 80 000 hours to ensure that our event runs smoothly every year. The Society commissioned a professional Accessibility audit of the festival grounds and website during the 2023 festival. The recommendations for accessibility improvements that fall within the festival's purview as opposed to the City of Edmonton's responsibility have begun to be addressed and will continue to be implemented over the next five years. The festival is also bringing back the re-useable plate program to reduce waste and the amount of compostable single use containers at the festival site once again. This program was halted during the Covid Pandemic and will run for patrons again in 2024.
