About The Corporation of the Township of St Clair
1. We collect artifacts of local significance as donations from area residents. 2. We catalogue and properly store these artifacts for their long term preservation. 3. We conduct research regarding local history and the artifacts so that our exhibits and programs are accurate and interesting. 4. We create exhibits of artifacts to educate the public about our heritage. 5. We maintain history buildings and exhibit buildings to protect them and the artifacts inside. 6. We train staff and volunteers to carry out their work. Museum staff and volunteers carried out the following new projects: creation of new exhibitions including a victorian parlour millinery shop local sports dentist office and st. Clair riverbed found items; programs were developed on the curriculum topic of community helpers and an interactive program on a historic braille typewriter; research preparatory and administrative tasks involved with the restoration of several historic artifacts including a life boat fire truck and roof of the historic log cabin; developed outside picnic area for community use; worked on several grounds projects including a new garden and the installation of barn quilts around the site; and hosted over 40 volunteers who donated 2457 hours of their time throughout the year.
