About The Cascadia Society for Social Working
Cascadia owns and operates a not-for-profit society offering a community inclusion program for adults who are developmentally disabled as well as a residential life-sharing program. The Centre and office is located at 351 West 19th St in North Vancouver. Cascadia currently serves a number of adults with developmental disabilities primarily through BC Government Ministry contracts some of which are a part the residential program. The program operates full time 5 days/week. Throughout the day the participants may work with a craft master at fabric weaving willow basketry candle making print products home skills or gardening. Other artistic activities are offered such as individual and group music time with a music therapist speech drama projects watercolour painting and clay work. There is an educational component of various subjects such as health and safety geography biographies reading and writing. There are also weekly swimming and walks. Mainly Community Living BC funds both the community inclusion and life sharing program contracts
