The Canadian Institute for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders

The ciocd lead international ocd accreditation task force (atf 125 experts representing 21 nations) has developed knowledge and competency standards recommended for specialized treatments of ocd through the lifespan. These standards are deemed by experts to be required as more specific compared with guidelines to inform and improve clinical care and training for this disabling disorder. International news releases have described this ciocd work in the service of patient care to be a 'transformative' advance in this field. Five specific papers on the atf standards were published in a special issue of psychiatry research 2021. The ciocd led task force has published a total of 10 scientific papers. The ongoing atf phase three entails development of training protocols for clinicians based on the atf standards. The ciocd atf aim to ameliorate the dire shortage of qualified clinicians to deliver evidence based specialized treatments for ocd through the lifespan. The taskforce leadership includes ciocd atf chair '...' phd canada and co-chair '...' md uk with senior consultant '...' md usa. The ciocd affiliate educational outreach program (aeop) continues with professional collaborations across canada dissemination of updated information to the public and educational program related to charitable activities. A completed national project assessed services and training for ocd across canada to further inform educational outreach programs related to obsessive compulsive disorders (ocd) for professionals and for the public. The ciocd initiated and will oversee a new national initiative under development in collaboration with canadian persons with lived experience with ocd caregivers and professionals. This initiative aimes to examine reporte experience with treatment and service access across canada of persons with ocd as ell as related care giver burden.
