About The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth
The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) is a youth-centered and family-focused non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the well-being of newcomer children youth and families. CBFY fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for newcomers by equipping them with the appropriate skills information knowledge and experience as they build a life in Canada. Since 1990 CBFY has proudly helped tens of thousands of immigrant and refugee families settle in Calgary. CBFY offers the following programs to assist youth: 1. In-School Settlement Program provides support builds cultural connections mentors and guides children and youth as they settle and integrate into their new life in Canada. 2. Afterschool Program offers activities field trips guest speakers and community events to aim to create a sense of belonging and connect youth to their community. 3. Mentorship Program supports newcomer immigrant and refugee youth in grades 7–12 with settling into Canadian schools and communities. Through resources information and personalized guidance the program helps ease the transition for these students. 4. Youth Employment Skills and Strategy Program assists newcomer youth and young adults aged 15 to 30 by providing the support and training they need to secure and maintain employment. 5. Outreach Program provides direct support and resources to immigrant refugee and newcomer youth and their families as they settle and integrate into life in Calgary focusing on offering one-on-one guidance information about Canadian culture and the school system and connecting families to community resources. 1. Bridges to Community program a six-week play and activity-based program designed to help grades 4 to 7 students build resilience and feel a sense of belonging.
