The Brown Homestead

The brown homestead (tbh) engages canadians with their cultural heritage through the protection and preservation of the brown homestead historic site in the niagara region. Tbh is transforming the location of the john brown house (c. 1796-1804) and john norton cabin (c. 1817) into a thriving cultural centre and gathering place working to design test and implement history and heritage based programs and to present cultural arts culture and educational programming in cooperation with a diverse network of community and institutional partners. In doing this the brown homestead will provide a model of how historic sites can be sustainable leaders in creative education that nurture human relationships inspire a growing passion for learning and serve as catalyst for deeper community connection. Charitable programs include victory garden mapping the history of the brown homestead open door days seed to garden oral history project cultural days in st. Catharines.
