The Arts Club of Vancouver Theatre Society

The arts club theatre company is canada's largest urban not for profit theatre company producing up to 20 productions with over 700 performances each seson in vancouver and throughout the province of bc. Our values are deeply rooted in our sense of place and we believe that cultivating and engaging local artists to tell stories that are enlivened by our shared experiences not only strengthens us but also our community. We just completed our 60th season and we operate three separate preforming arts facilities: the 650 seat stanley industirial alliance stage the 450 seat granville island stage and the 250 seat newmont stage at the bmo theatre centre. We also tour three productions a year to several other venues. The arts club leads in developing and producing live theatre in bc. Commissioning developing and staging new canadian plays remains an organization widecommitment. Over 25% of our productions to date have been premiers of new works by canadian playwrights and each season we devote the resources of the company to fostering and nurturing local talent. The bmo theatre centre facility is our administrative home and a performance and rehearsal space for the arts club bard on beach and our local community. All of our education programs are based there and are a focus for organization going forward since education is key to archieving our strategic plan priorities.
