About Taibu Community Health Centre
Our services include primary health care mental health support social services health promotion and well-being activities in combination with community capacity building programs and services. We provides these services to people living in the malvern area who are experiencing bariers to accessing primary healthcare with emphasis on children youth young adults and seniors. Our other programs include sickle cell initiative: support for adults with sickle cell disease; hypertension management program; diabetes education program focus on african and caribbean population; weekly pre and post natal groups; the scarborough francophone health promotion programs the low back pain program which utilizes the services of a chiropractic and registered kinesiology; maternal health strategy funding to implement a program for peri natal support programs for new mothers in the scarborough area has become core/base funding. We continue to support increasing number of small grass root community organizations as their organizational mentor/trustees from funding ontario trillium foundation and the city of toronto. We have received funding from the central east lhin to provide primary care services in french to the francophone communities in scarborough. The toronto community crisis response is being expanded to cover the whole of scarborough. As a result we are establishing a second office base in south scarborough. We have received funding from ontario health to implement an afrocentric-interprofessional care team in partnership with two other chcs - rexdale chc and black creek chc. We have also received funding from the ministry of canadian heritage to produce three documentaries on the experience of black communities in the education criminal justice and health care sectors. This funding is for 2 years. We have also partnered with daily break to launch a food bank in the empringham community in malvern support residents.
