1) Great Lakes Guide: Building a web platform to connect people to the Great Lakes and inspire a new generation of water guardians. 2) Swim Guide: Tracking water quality at over 8 000 beaches sharing daily water quality status updates in a smart phone app and website and publishing educational resources about swimmable waters 3) Recreational water quality monitoring 4) Watermark Project: A digital archive and website which collects stores and shares stories about Canadian relationships with water 5) The Great Lakes Communities Recreational Waters Monitoring Initiative: Develop and demonstrate a scalable sustainable model for ongoing water quality monitoring that addresses both western science and traditional ecological knowledge needs. Develop new citizen scientists increasing their knowledge and engagement in addressing Great Lakes issues while collecting useful water quality data. Hone best practices for communicating water quality results to the community quickly and reliably. Identify the communications technology infrastructure required to sustain these activities across the Great Lakes region including in First Nations communities.
