Sunshine Centres for Seniors

Sunshine centres for seniors provides social recreational and health promotion programs for seniors and people with disabilities at eight wheelchair accessible locations. Programs are provided at camp sunshine on ward's island from may to september. Other programs are offered in toronto community housing corporation buildings and toronto seniors community housing buildings including 460 jarvis street 250 davenport road 80 danforth street 145 strathmore blvd. And 252 sackville street. We also provide social and recreational activities at wellesley community centre and at 84 carlton street a non-profit housing building for seniors and people with disabilities. We offer one drop-in program for the 2slgbtqia+ community. All programs include a wide variety of activities designed to foster social connections and to improve seniors' health and well-being. The seniors also enjoy socializing with youth and children as part of the intergenerational activities we offer. Sunshine centres for seniors has an active base of volunteers including senior volunteers. The centre operates in toronto ontario. In 2024 sunshine centres for seniors began offering the seniors assistance home maintenance program. The program provides assistance to older adults and people living with a disability in communities within the city of toronto who need help to remain independently and safely within their own homes. Clients are matched with a brokered worker who can assist with home help. Outdoor maintenance services include: snow shoveling of sidewalks driveways and common areas lawn cutting leaf raking light gardening and outdoor general maintenance (garage cleaning yard clean ups taking out garbage or recycling).
