Program purpose: to provide and/or to promote a community transportation service to meet the needs and improve the welfare of residents of the st. Margaret's bay area. St. Margaret's bay community transportation society (smbcts) operating under the name bayrides is a community-based transportation service that provide affordable accessible door-to-door transportation in the real st. Margaret's bay catchment area of halifax regional municipality nova scoita with special focus on seniors and individuals who are marginalized financially or who have mobility or medical issues. The smbcts provides transportation to medical appointments stores businesses social engagements school employment and connection to the metro x bus stop to connect with the halifax city transit system. All rides all booked in advance. If required vouchers to cover fares are provided for marginalized individuals such as low-income residents. The smbcts works in cooperation with community organizations such as the department of community services the von the local food bank the st. Margaret's bay seniors association and the local library to ensure that anyone in need of affordable transportation is aware of the service.
