St. Joseph's Health System International Outreach Program

St. Joseph's health system international outreach program (iop) partners with hospitals medical schools and physicians from developing countries (currently uganda zambia namibia and guyana) to provide advanced medical education and training in canada for physicians from developing countries. Iop may also provide new or gently used medical equipment and supplies to uganda haiti or guyana. Iop education coordinators visit uganda and guyana hospitals and medical schools in order to provide on-site training and education and to oversee the physician trainee application and selection process for physicians that will come to canada for their advanced sub specialty training. Advancement of education in order to improve healthcare outcomes in developing countries is the focus of the iop.
