First aid and health care training was delivered to approximately 13 977 nb residents. 115 mfr volunteers provided first aid services at 98 community events. 104 therapy dog (td) handlers and their dogs remained in our td program. They volunteer 4052 hours at nursing homes or schools. There were td teams at 1114 scheduled events. The youth program has 16 members during 2024. Suap (substance use and addictions program) st. John ambulance has been asked by health canada to provide training and naloxone kits to 'underserved communities' across canada. - underserved communities can mean communities with barriers to access to naloxone for any number of reasons (geographical cultural) - goals of our program: reduce stigma surrounding people who use drugs provide information on harm reduction educate on how to handle an opioid poisoning how to save someone's life self-care for the person responding giving them tools to process the trauma of the experience delivered 14 free training courses for opioid poisoning response training/reaching home program training 240 participants in 2024 and provided them with free naloxone kits. During 2024 procurement of equipment continued training was provided and an emergency response unit continued to grow. 45 emergency response unit members july 19 2024 a team of six eru members were deployed to happy valley goose bay to aid our nl sja eru team who were called up by their provincial government to provide first aid at 3 locations in labrador due to evacuation of labrador city. The organization recognized 18 individuals for their lifesaving efforts and community service in 2024.
