St. John Ambulance's mission is to enable Canadians to improve their health safety and quality of life by providing training and community service through two main activities. 1) Community services volunteers provide first aid services at various public events throughout Alberta communities. 2) Provide First Aid CPR and other safety training to the public other organizations and charities. Ongoing programs include: 'We Can Help' training to grade 3 students on how to help in an emergency situation. 'Therapy Pet' program offers seniors & students the opportunity to interact with pets. 'Child Restraint' program teaches parents how to properly install and maintain child car seats. 'Baby First' program teaches parents of high risk infants how to deal with a medical emergency. 'Children's Restraint System Technician' training provides certification for trainers wishing to teach the 'Child Restraint' program. 'Sponsor a Sitter' provides an opportunity for corporate partners to sponsor an adolescent to take the 'Baby Sitters' training course. 'Save A Life' smart phone application allows citizens to register AED's and themselves to respond in a medical emergency. 'First Aid Training' at all levels of competence from basic one day train through to pre-hospital advanced first aid training. 'Medical First Responder' volunteers are trained in advanced first aid to provide direct patient care at public events. 'Blended Online First Aid' provided online first aid training tools for both general awareness and certification. 'Humanitarian Workforce Project' to keep communities safe from large scale emergencies by providing from line first aid volunteers. 'Emergency Response Unit (ERU)' volunteers are trained in advanced first aid and can be deployed during Nationally declared emergencies.
