About Southwest Alberta Sustainable Community Initiative Centre
SASCI contracts & assists a Community Grant Specialist (now supported with municipal funds) who provides grant research and application services to local government & non-government organizations that support community & economic development. We provide an administrator & accounting program to share with various community groups (Agents). SASCI connects community to online workshops for non-profits. SASCI provides oversight/operational assistance to Agents: Grassland Restoration Forum focuses on reclamation and environmental sustainability activities related to native grasslands for practitioners industry and policy makers including field seminars webinars conferences and publications to teach current practice management techniques; Maker Centre has a drop-in program to develop child/youth skills with experiential learning/mentoring in energy robotics and digital tech applications; Outdoor Recreation Coalition of Alberta builds community among outdoor users mediates disputes among disparate sectors and connects to the decision-makers; Pincher Creek Health Professional Attraction & Retention Society plans activities & provides gifts of appreciation to local healthcare workers to improve morale and encourage medical staff to reside in the area; Pincher Creek Early Learning Centre provides a venue and activities for education and engagement of young families. SASCI supported an Energy Specialist who hosted a series of workshops in which community members learned about energy: where it comes from infrastructure how it is billed and how to make a home energy efficient. 2022-2024 SASCI contracted a Fund Development Specialist to research and set up a Community 'Ripple' Fund under the Lethbridge Foundation. This fund is almost ready to accept donations from local donors & philanthropists.
