South Peace Seniors Access Service Society (spsass)

We continued to be a co-lead agency with south peace community resources society for the better at home program and benefit from the partnership by having our office location. This is an ongoing commitment and some of the spsass board members sit on the advisory committee for better at home and we have 2 board members on the lead agency team. Our board members spent 50 hours assisting better at home in the last year and we donated $5 000 to support housekeeping and snow removal services. Seniors are helped in our office monday-fridays 1:00-3:00 with concerns and issuee relating to things such as pensions housing fair pharmarecare passport applications and several were referred to better at home. We continue to help with meals for you program by providing a freezer and a place where people can purchase the meals that are prepared by volunteers at meals for you. More than 3500 meals and 1200 soups were prepared and sold in 2024. We held11 presentations with 200 attendees presenting a variety of topics of interest to seniors. We keep a webpage updated and have had 527 hits to site. We continue to participate in the sing (seniors independence networking group) which resulted in connections for future presentations. We have 13 volunteers who logged over 500 hours and have kept office open for 2 hours monday to friday for seniors to drop in for information or help with forms. The board members have logged over 225 hours on board issues. We support the v.i.p. Program by keeping the vials used by the program and helping to advertize same. We have took on the vital information program and have developed pick up vials for seniors to keep in home in ready for emergencies. We distributed and contacted first responders to explain the program.
