About South Norwich Historical Society

To promote the heritage of south norwich. Maintaining the 1845 mill the grand trunk railway station as a museum featuring quaker black and railway local history and a display of the paxton/royal bank building. Maintain a working blacksmith shop. Offer tours of the above sites as well as woodlawn adult community centre (an octgonal house) and the african metodist episcopal cemetery (1856). Maintain cemetery grounds. Conduct meetings with speakers who represent various aspects of ontario and local history to educate the public. Provide education on local history and heritage to bus tours local schools and private tours. Provide speakers to local organizations on black history. Print newsletters. Manage a bursary fund that provides bursaries to local students.
