The Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. James Conference Oakville (SSVP) was generously supported by the parishioners of St. James Parish numerous individuals and the Halton Catholic District School Board. Without their generosity we would not have been able to support those in need within our community regardless of race creed color nationality or sexual orientation. Below is a summary of the assistance we provided in 2023: 313 homes were visited 48 families were served consisting of 68 adults and 31 children; 35 children were provided with back-to-school support; 20 families were provided with gift certificates for Christmas; We informed families that we serve of the names and locations of free food available in Oakville; Through the Ozanam Education fund we supported one student to go to university; and We provided support to families to complete forms applying for assistance. New programs included: We delivered toys to families; We delivered prepared meals that were donated to us to certain larger families; We assisted individuals in securing employment by directing them to agencies or employers; We supported a local coat drive to help those in need; and We provided periodic reports to parishioners on the activities of SSVP.
