About Sirie Limitless Community

In 2024 SIRIE LIMITLESS COMMUNITY (SLC) implemented a play therapy-informed after-school program on Thursdays and Saturdays. This program was tailored for neurodiverse children and families . The program integrated art music and gardening as forms of group therapy. This programs were held in donated space at the Dover community hall and the Twin view Gardens in Dover Calgary AB. This one of a kind innovative afterschool program has successfully brought together neurodiverse children providing them a platform to showcase their talents. This initiative not only fosters a sense of community among participants but also plays a crucial role in normalizing neurodiversity. By creating an inclusive environment the program encourages children to express themselves freely allowing their unique abilities to shine and promoting acceptance among peers. The program is supported by peer counselors and volunteers who share their own experiences with neurodiversity. This aspect has proven to be particularly powerful as it allows participants to see role models who understand their challenges and triumphs. By hearing statements like 'I am neurodivergent too ' children feel validated and empowered reducing feelings of isolation and stigma. This connection fosters a supportive network that encourages personal growth and self-acceptance. Through various activities and workshops the afterschool program not only highlights the talents of neurodiverse children but also educates the wider community about the importance of inclusion. As awareness grows the stigma surrounding neurodiversity diminishes paving the way for a more understanding and accepting society. This initiative exemplifies how targeted programs can create meaningful change benefiting both individuals and the community as a whole.Neurodiversity is at a spectrum and there is widespread support for many servire conditions but minimal understanding when neurodiversity presents as an invisible disability .
