Sfu offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the faculties of applied science arts and social services beedie school of business education environment health sciences sciences and communication arts and technology. The university conducts research within each faculty of various disciplines and operates a work study program in a variety of disciplines. As well simon fraser university offers short courses workshops conferences and distance education programs. Sfu is making significant progress toward establishing its first medical school and several key milestones were achieved in the 2023-24 fiscal year. The indigenous curriculum resource centre (icrc) space was launched in spring 2023. The icrc supports decolonizing and indigenizing course curriculum and predagogy. It includes a physical collection of resources for instructors to borrow as well as an online resource guide. To support research-based phd students in their work sfu introduced the phd research scholarship in the summer of 2023. The b.c. Centre for agritech innovation (bccai) led by sfu recently announced funding for 13 new projects aimed at strengthening food production in british columbia.
