Regularly Scheduled Programs each lasting between 1-4 hours were held in multiple cities across Canada and were attended by local congregations. These programs (usually weekly) included: • Kirtan (singing of hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji) • Leader-led simran (meditative chanting) • Katha - discussions on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji teachings These on-going programs took place in Sikh Gurdwaras (temple) or schools and were entirely volunteer-run. In 2023 across all cities in Canada we estimate that our volunteers spent in excess of 4 000 hours facilitating these programs. Ongoing programs took place in the following cities: • Greater Toronto Area • Greater Vancouver Area • Calgary AB Special Events are multi-day programs scheduled and conducted around a theme. The theme of the event is determined by the organizers and is a topic from Sri Guru Granth Sahib to address specific needs of the congregation. These events typically include: • Kirtan (sacred from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji) • Leader-led simran (meditative chanting) and • Katha (in-depth discussion of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji teachings on the particular theme/topic) During Special Events members from other congregations attend the event city and participate which requires coordination of travel accommodations meals and transportation. One Special Event was held in the Greater Vancouver Area BC. A new program named 'Sikhi Camp' was introduced in 2024 for Youth between ages 6 - 25 years. This four-day program included classroom teachings on the message of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji that covered a broad range of topics key to Sikhi. The Youth were arranged by age group and teaching methods suitable per age group were used. Sikhi-based instruction materials (booklets arts/crafts etc.) were prepared and distributed. All attendance and materials provided were free of charge as were snacks and meals. Over 250 local and international volunteers participated to deliver this very successful
