Sara Corning Society

Programs continue to be centered on the educatiion of sara corning and how her story is relevant today as a true canadian hero who grew up and lived in our community of yarmouth county. Sara's efforts in saving the armenian's from the ottoman empire's efforts of genocide and sara's assistance after the halifax explosion continue to be an inspirational story of how one person can make a difference. In 2024 work continued on the sara memorial park in chegoggin including this year adding signage to the park and installing cement pads for the 2 information panels and a bench to be installed. Raffle tickets were sold on a quilt as a fundraiser for the park development costs. In addition to the children's book we are creating telling the story of sara's herioc actions has had the writing and illustrations completed. Efforts focused now on finding a publisher. Future programs planned are: - nominate sara for hs heritage day honour - apply to canada post to have a sara stamp created
