About Rural Water Watch

One of our main activities is the delivery of water education workshops at public venues. We organized and delivered Healthy Wells Workshops in several communities at public libraries and community centers in six rural Nova Scotia communities: Bridgewater Musquodoboit Harbour Greenville Mill Village East Preston and Walden. We educated participants about well and well-area issues that may impact water quality. For Work Water Day we participated in an event at the Zatzman Sportsplex in Dartmouth NS. We also presented at the Dalhousie University Centre for Water Resources Studies Coastal Hydrology Symposium on the challenges and barriers to well water testing in rural areas. Challenges and Barriers to testing. We also created additional marketing materials for healthy wells and promoted Health Wells Day on October 20 2024. We developed a 'What’s in your water?' education campaign. These water information displays are designed for public spaces like libraries and community centers or any rural gathering place. Each display consists of a poster a bookmark and rack cards to take home with tips on well health and drinking water quality. In 2024 we increased our Public Library ‘What’s in your Water? campaign presence from 3 library branches to 34.
