The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair j('The Royal') is recognized as the pre-eminent organization for presenting and promoting excellence in Canadian agriculture food and equestrian activities through world-class competition commerce education and entertainment. The Royal celebrated its 102nd year in 2024. The Royal continues to be the world's largest combined indoor agricultural and international equestrian competition. The main highlights of the Royal are Agricultural and Horse Shows The Discovery Zone youth engagement activities Culinary Academy and agri-food innovation and other education programs offer learnings of the scientific and practical dimension of Canada's agri-food system and promote awareness on healthy living and offer learnings of how the agri-food sector impacts the everyday lives of Canadians. The Royal also continues to provide vibrant entertainment and family feature attractions and facilitates commerce and outreach programs. 2024 saw the continuation of changes to our reimagined children's Ag-tivity area with the addition of footing to our animal theatre which allowed us to have additional family friendly sessions with live animals (the footing replaced carpet and large hooved animals require footing for stability). We also held our second farrier (horseshoe) competition in our animal theatre where farriers competing and demonstrated how to make horseshoes over live flame. We also reimagined our food education area with 'Chef's Table' (formerly Culinary Academy) where top chef's held hands on sessions teaching students and adults about food cooking and sustainability.
