Robert Pope Foundation

The robert pope foundation was incorporated april 14 1992 under the societies act of nova scotia. The robert pope foundation seeks to promote wholeness and well-being through the avenues of art education and community health initiatives. Our support for education takes the form of scholarships awards and residencies. We support an on-going artist-residency at nscad university and contributed to other organizations' residency programs. Our health and community-building activities include guided walks support for a summer camp for children with chronic conditions makers' spaces and seniors' lunch and exercise programs. Our health focus has increasingly moved in the direction of prevention and securing healthy environments. These nature engagements vary from support for a canoe club outreach program to partnerships with the museum of natural history to working with groups that focus on sustainable food production. Our support for artists includes creating exhibitions and distributing grants to individual artists both senior and emerging as well as to established groups in theatre music and other related fields. Besides supporting the work of others the foundation creates its own projects. These ofter start with engagements with summer students who work out of our centre by the sea wellness retreat. Student employees work in environmental areas as well as the performing arts.
