Direct Funding - Self-Managed Attendant Services Program: After designing a budget based on a person's needs funds are provided to adults with permanent physical disabilities allowing them to become employers of their own attendant services. Attendants assist with routine activities of living such as dressing grooming and bathing etc. Peer Support Program includes: Workshops & Resources Opportunities for peer networking One-on-One support and Over-the-Phone support. Volunteer Program: A Volunteer is an individual who works to help others but does not get paid. RISE's Volunteer Program offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to a diverse group of individuals including: People with disabilities Newcomers to Canada; and People from various cultural backgrounds. Some of our volunteer opportunities include: Assisting with mass mailings Photocopying Assembling information packages Design produce sort and distribute Coffee Break Newsletters; and filing Community Canvas Paint Night: Is a fun evening of painting and socialization. This program promotes positive social interactions with people of all abilities ages 12 and up. These peer interactions are important because they lead to positive social and emotional and mental well-being. It can help prevent depression which is prevalent with seniors. Socializing keeps the mind active.
